Mindfulness is the energy of being aware
and awake to the present moment
— Thich Nhat Hanh

During this very special retreat, Shehla and Allison will help uncover your true self through mindful movement of body (yoga asana-s), breath (pranayama) and mind (meditation). When you practice yoga, breathing or meditation with attention and awareness, there is a certain quality that comes to heart, opening your relationship with your true self.  Practicing mindfulness within a loving community is very important. It helps your practice becomes more joyful and your journey within more compassionate.

Inviting movement and mindfulness to our bodies, using the breath to help keep us in the present moment. In all of our yoga practices, we will experience how conscious and focused breathing helps open the body and calm the mind as you move fluidly from one posture to the next.

Simple actions of breathing connects us to our life force; our prana. We will be practicing different conscious breathing practices (pranayama techniques) during our retreat to help still our mind, allowing space in our heart for our truest intention to flourish.

Turning your attention within. Sitting meditation is like returning home to give full attention to and care for our self. We will be practicing guided and silent sitting meditations. If sitting is difficult, we will offer alternative ways (chair, lying down).

Silence. The essence of stillness.

During the retreat, we will have moments of silence. When you practice mindfulness in silence, a deep listening to the heart happens. The healing quality of silence allows us to feel oneself deeply from our core of being.  All dinners will be taken in Silence. We begin each dinner, honouring Thich Nhat Hanh’s Five Contemplations. The practice of reciting these contemplations before eating is a way to foster mindful eating and helps promote inner peace through food.
